Interested in a career as a CDL Driver

Red Hook on the Road accepts new students year round.

•Red Hook on the Road is a free 4 week intensive hands-on training program that will help you earn the NYS CDL and find work as a commercial driver.

•We provide behind-the-wheel training to drive Class B/BP/BPS commercial vehicles.

•Job placement assistance is available for 2+ years after graduation so you can advance into better positions with higher pay.


To be eligible you must meet all of the following criteria:
•Live in New York City & be legally eligible to work in the U.S.

•21 years or older

•Have a clean, valid NY State Driver’s License for at least 2 years with no more than 2 points or one suspension or one conviction showing on the driver record. No combination of the above is allowed. Also, no speeding tickets or D.U.I.s

•Obtain and submit a driver record from the DMV that must be less than 30 days old

•Able to attend training Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

•Be unemployed and have a low income or receive public assistance


BWI welcomes individuals with past criminal convictions to apply.

ORIENTATION JANUARY 4th 2011

Good Afternoon

First and Foremost, we at Red Hook on the Road would like to wish you a happy new year. Hope that you and your loved ones enjoyed it in a safe and healthy manner. Red Hook on the Road is eager for the coming calendar year, and will continue to do its best to service the unemployed/ low-income population of New York City; those whom are eager to obtain their Class B CDL License.

We are writing to you today to inquire if you are still interested in our program, and the services we provide. If so we would like to invite you to ORIENTATION tomorrow Wednesday January 4th 2012 at our office. WE ask that all those who are attending ORIENTATION to please arrive at our office at 12:30PM. Persons arriving after 1245PM will not be allowed to attend.

IF you have already brought an updated drivers abstract to our office and filled out the intake and plan to attend ORIENTATION please contact us via email at your earliest convenience and simply say "confirmed"

You are cordially invited to share in a day of presentation and networking, to be held at the Red Hook on the Road offices in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

At this event, you will hear detailed information dispersed by Julio Perez, Program Director of Red Hook on the Road, as well as other staff members, sharing the overall mission and functionality of the FREE CDL TRAINING PROGRAM @ Red Hook On the Road. In addition, staff will touch on the prerequisites to application for interested persons, as well as a mentioning of the benefits and services of obtaining a New York State Commercial Drivers License through Red Hook on the Road.
